About Wilderness Way Community

The wilderness is a place beyond borders, off the map, outside the influence of systems that dominate, domesticate, and oppress. For ages the wilderness has been a place of refuge, retreat, and renewal for human beings. It has also been a place of abundance, of timely gifts and surprising blessings, a place where people receive visions of who and what they are meant to be.

The Wilderness Way Community seeks to be “wilderness” for those who struggle under the burdens of human-made systems, who seek another way than the way of domination and subjugation, revolution and reaction. We are a group of about 15 adults and kids sharing a common life through practicing “wilderness ways”. Some of us are followers of Jesus’ way of life, suffering love, and nonviolence; others come from other traditions, or no tradition at all. We are all responsible for what we believe and how we behave toward one another, with the intention of welcoming all who desire to travel with us and a “well-leave” for those who are moving on to other ventures.
